It’s been an incredible week at the United Methodist Church Annual Conference. It’s been a time of unexpected, vision and unexpected presence of the Holly Spirit. Those who are in favor of inclusion of everyone, including our LGBT+ community were blessed with votes that approved everything we ask for. It was truly a blessing from God. It’s a day of new beginnings and a new truly United Methodist Church. Watch this episode to find out what happened and what it means for the future of the United Methodist Church.

Over the last 52 years, the UMC “Social Principals” have had elements added to and subtracted from it. But during the last 2 years a group has been working on a complete revision from the ground up. Today, the last section was adopted. This meant the end of the “Incompatibility Clause.” Another important item that was included in the legislation was a new definition of marriage. Stay tuned to find out what happened, why it’s a historic move for the UMC, and what it means to our LBGT+ brothers and sisters.

Wednesday, May 1 was one of the most significant days in United Methodist Church History. Jane Graner, Senior Pastor at Trinity United Methodist Church in Duncanville, Texas and Greg Neil, Senior Pastor at Grace United Methodist Church in Des Moines, Iowa give a wrap up of their 3rd day at the United Methodist General Conference. They talk about what was voted on, and passed, and what it means to the future of the United Methodist Church and our LBGT+ members. Todays vote was monumental! Tuesday, April 30: Jane Graner, Senior Pastor at Trinity United Methodist Church in Duncanville, Texas and Greg Neil, Senior Pastor at Grace United Methodist Church in Des Moines, Iowa give a wrap up of their 2nd day at the United Methodist General Conference. They talk about several very important items on the Consent Calendar that got passed today. One was the lifting of a prohibition of a rule that prohibited the funding of LGBQ+ missions, affirming ministries of any kind including with food and clothing assistance and teen suicide prevention among other things. Other regulations were overturned like the ability to file a complaint against a Bishop for performing an ordination of and LBGQ+ person. They also give us a look a issues being considered at tomorrows conference. Stay tuned for more updates to come.

It’s thought by many that to be a good Christian or believe in the Bible means we have to reject the findings of modern science, or if you’re a person of science, there’s no way you can believe in God. But what if God speaks to us in both the revelation of faith and and in the wonder of the natural world? We’ll explore this and other questions in our next sermon series, “A Total Eclipse of the Sun: Science in the Service of God” Starting April 14 at 11 am.

The word "maundy" comes from the Latin phrase for "new commandment." On his last evening with his disciples, Jesus gave his friends a new commandment: love one another. Tonight we will recreate the last 24 hours of Jesus' earthly life—from his last meal with his friends and disciples to the time he is ensconced in a tomb of stone.
