Welcome to Trinity United Methodist Church in Duncanville, Texas.  Today we start the season of Advent with a new sermon series “A Child Born for Us.”  We’ll be exploring some of our favorite passages from the Prophet Isaiah from both Jewish and Christian prospectives. Sermon Re-visit “Christmas in the First Person - God"

Many people have heard the Christmas story as it is told in the Bible, but what did Mary think about all of it? What was going through King Herod’s mind as he put his proclamations into action? In addition to our current series, “A Child Born for Us,” we are reprising our Advent series from last year, now titled “Christmas in the First Person.” Join us as we take a different perspective on the traditional Christmas story, by looking at it through the eyes of those that were actually there.

2020 certainly has been a year filled with grief, uncertainty, and a lot of division. Going into the holiday season, it may be hard to find some cheer in the midst of all the division. Is there a right answer, and if so, how do we find it? To help shed some light, we will be looking into the prophet Isaiah using the lenses of both Christianity and Judaism. Can two different approaches to the Bible have something to tell us today?
